I can’t figure out now if these are actually kitties or bears or some weird hybrid! lol. I decided to make some of these kitties for different people using different fabrics. Here we have: green kitty, beach kitty and horse kitty! :) SWEET! I’m currently in love with these little things! lol
My supernice friend Debby gave me some Hello Kitty holiday fabric and I decided to make a Hello Kitty ornament doll with it. I made two other smaller ones, but their hands were shaped more weird, so I enlarge the pattern I designed and came up with this Hello Kitty! I thought she could do with a skirt/apron too! hehe. The red stripes are the back. Even though she has no real face, I think she is pretty cute! :)
I just finished this JOY decoration. I turned my wreath into the ‘O’ and then I made a ‘J’ and a ‘Y.’ Not too shabby I say. It isn’t perfect, but I like it a lot! Yay!
I just completed this little wreath that I made to go with my candy canes! It turned out fairly well for my first ever attempt at such a project! Yay!!!
I just made this little jingle bell candy cane! It even has a ribbon for hanging! I think it turned out pretty great if I do say so myself! Yay! :) The pic is a view of the back and front of it.

Hey Y’all! Anyone out there in the Portland, Oregon area should check out Kara Walker’s art exhibit at Reed College in the Cooley Gallery. Here’s a link with more info. about the exhibit. On the link there is also audio of Kara Walker’s talk that she gave at Reed a few weeks ago. It is FREE and going on until November 18, 2012. Kara Walker is an internationally famous and controversial artist whose work touches on the themes of antebellum America, race, sexuality, gender, stereotypes and the legacies of slavery. She has been vaulted into art world super stardom by her silhouette works, but at the same time has been denounced for her questionable imagery.
Hi! As you might know if you have scanned my blog, I make it a point to talk about mental health/illness, because I have schizophrenia and I believe in stomping out the stigma of mental illness. Well, I have this cute story to share! I was waiting outside of the classroom for my biology lab class to start this fall and started talking to a supernice girl who was in my class. We got to talking and to try to explain why I had been in school so long I decided to tell her that I have schizophrenia. Lo and behold she says “oh yah, my mom has bipolar and my brother has schizophrenia too!” What a small world!!! It turns out her whole family is active in the mental health field in advocating for the erasure of stigma related to mental illness and they have a website called http://bringchange2mind.org/ . I am always surprised when I talk to people about my own illness and then they also know someone or are someone with mental illness too! It is such a big thing in peoples’ lives and when we talk about it, it is surprising/amazing/wonderful that we aren’t alone in our struggles. So, I just wanted to share this little story and a link to the Bring Change 2 Mind website. It was a wonderful feeling to meet someone else at school who knows first hand about mental illness and to be able to talk openly about it! :) Three cheers for no more stigma!!! :)
