My damage looked kind of like this, but a bit worse.
Hi! I don’t know if anyone will find this useful, but if you happen to have a Mac laptop that has the anti-reflective coating coming off, Apple will replace your display for free! That will save you about $800!!! The not-very-publicized recall put into place by Apple is in response to what has been termed “Staingate.”
I didn’t know what was wrong with my screen. I thought I just couldn’t get it clean, so I looked it up online, and determined that it was the anti-reflective coating that had come off around where the keyboard hits the middle of the screen. Usually you can still use your display with the problem, but it can get REALLY annoying. The first time I looked up the issue I didn’t see any way to resolve it. Then about a week ago I was looking online and stumbled across this MacRumors article: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/17/apple-extends-free-staingate-repairs/ (Thank You MacRumors!). The article says that they will replace it up to three years from purchase date, but I believe it is up to four years from purchase date.
I was actually past the timeframe, and I was really bummed out (I had missed it by three months). Fortunately, a great service tech at CityMac told me I should contact Apple and see if they could make an exception. I contacted Apple, and they did! I’m pleased to say that I also had a good customer service experience with Apple this time. In the past I had had terrible customer service.
I’m now typing behind a shiny new AND CLEAR computer screen. Yay!
So, if you have this problem, you can take it into an Apple store, or go to an Authorized Retailer like CityMac. You can also contact Apple and mail your computer in if you prefer. Good luck and good computing!

Oh wow! You just got your MacBook Pro Retina and installed CS6 only to discover that the text and icons are jaggy! AHHH! TOTALLY SUCKS! Don’t worry, there is an easy fix. All you need to do is open Photoshop, go to the Help tab and click UPDATES. (I’m including a screenshot).
It will open the application manager which will download and run the updates that are needed. It should update all of your CS6 apps, so they look beautiful and crisp. See the before and after above (note, the png takes away a bit of the crispness). You’d think when you *just* installed CS6 it would have automatically updated everything, but no. Anyway, this is painless and you’ll be happy with the results!
Hey! You just got a new MacBook Pro with Retina display and you want to read your favorite books with the Kindle app, right? Well, you might notice that if you downloaded the Kindle app from the Apple app store, the text is blurry. BUMMER! Don’t despair! Try this fix before you cry. Delete your Kindle app that you downloaded from the App store, and deregister your Kindle for that device. Then go to the Amazon store and get the Kindle app there. Here is a LINK as of 4/6/14. Install this app instead of the other one. It might say you are attempting to over-write a newer file. That is fine. This app from the amazon store is the one you want! It should fix your blurry situation. Be sure to register this app so you can get all of your books. I hope this helps! :)
I just watched the documentary “Welcome To Macintosh” which I purchased for $19.84 (plus tax and shipping from filmbaby.com) and I have to say that it was pretty great. Okay, they couldn’t get an interview with Steve Jobs, but whatever. And, well, probably only Mac people would be so enthralled by this movie, but since I’m a Mac lover it brought me joy! What can I say? I’m not that hard to please! Why do Apple lovers love Apple and love to love Apple and love to talk about how they love Apple? Cult much? Meh! I’m not into cults at all, but I love my computer as much as it is possible to have a fondness for inanimate objects! I’m sorry. I can’t help it. My Mac is my portal to so much joy, you have no idea!
Oh, there are some good
