Pickles is the cat that inspired the creation of the company. What’s even better is that they are based in my own area—Portland, Oregon! Yay for Sweet Pickles!
More handmade dolls, made by me! :) I made these for a cute little girl who going through a tough transition time right now. :) They have different coordinating fabrics on the back. :) This time I experimented with using little pre-made ribbon flowers instead of all bows. I think it looks great! :) What do you think?
I can’t figure out now if these are actually kitties or bears or some weird hybrid! lol. I decided to make some of these kitties for different people using different fabrics. Here we have: green kitty, beach kitty and horse kitty! :) SWEET! I’m currently in love with these little things! lol
Here are some new pillows I’ve been working on. I’m going to be selling on consignment at In Other Words in Portland, Oregon. I’m pretty excited about it! The first one is Henry Miller Magic cat with red stripes. The second one is Judy the Utie(rus) with minis on the back. The third one is a pillow of Angelica Kauffman and Mary Moser having tea.

Well, I had to buy yet another clicker for school! This one is for Physics class. So, I decided to make a clicker cozy for this one too. I got this cute fabric at spoonflower.com at this link: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/425256. I just love this cat with his glasses and sweater! :) He’s sure to help me get an A in Physics! haha! I wish! :)
I just finished my blue frog kitty project for my friend who likes blue and frogs. I hope she likes this! :) I used the frog fabric on the back of both the big kitty and the baby kitty this time. :) Click any of the pics to enlarge. :)
I’m pretty sure the people I have made these kitties for don’t read my blog, so I’m going to post the pics of new kitties I have made! The first one I just finished today for a wonderful young woman who just completed dental hygienist school. I’ve known her since she was born actually! I found the cute teeth fabric on spoonflower. I think they are just adorable with their pink cheeks! hehe. The second cat I made for my aunt’s friend. It is different on the back, because the back doesn’t have fuzzy fabric, but instead the flying cat fairy fabric. The last two I made especially for a friend who lives far away. The shoes reminded me of his new sneakers that I saw on facebook, and I know he likes pandas, so I wanted to do a panda cat for him. :) Click any of the pictures for a larger view. :)
I just posted this on my FB page, but I had to post here. I think this is so funny. This pic comes from my Differential Equations textbook. They were talking about modeling using differential equations, and in the process talked about cats falling from high rises, so they included this pic of a cat with a parachute! Math nerds rock! :) lol
Right now I’m working on these pink kitties. I’m making the eyes with felt instead of buttons, because it is for a baby. I’m hoping that babies don’t eat the other stuff on the kitty! lol I’m sewing the stuff on pretty tightly, but babies can be strangely strong! The fat fairy on the pocket is my own design! :)
This is my latest cat project. I’m working on two superhero cats for two different little boys. I’ve finished one of the big cats and two baby cats, but I still need to make the capes for the baby cats. Update: I finished one baby cat cape! Adding pic now. :) I got the supercute superhero fabric from Hawthorne Threads. (Here is a link to the Superhero Fabric) They have some of the best fabric around in my opinion, but I am also glad that the Joann Fabrics near my house has a big selection of fleece! :) If you click the pics you can see an enlarged view. :)
OMG I was so excited when someone bought one of my fabrics! You have no idea how thrilling it is!!!
I’m quite a boring person…obsessed with making cats and doing math homework! hehe. Thank god the anxiety has calmed down quite a lot, so I can go about my business and get stuff done!!! What a relief! :) :) :)
I’ve sort of neglected my Etsy store, because I haven’t managed to make it work very well, but I’m going to try to give it a little more love and see if it springs to life a little more. lol. I’m very excited, because I actually had a sale recently! Yay! I also get very excited when people just visit my listings! Etsy keeps track of visitors with stats and stuff like that. I get very OCD about the whole thing I must admit. So, here is a pic of what my storefront looks like pretty much. I mostly have prints for sale, but I’m hoping to add more cats and other things once I get them made. I hope you can stop by and look around. It is really hard to get visitors, because there are like a gazillion gillion people on etsy already. I don’t know how people make it work really! You should be able to click on the image to get to my etsy store page. Thanks a million already!
It is hard to part with my kitties. hehe. I’m so silly! (That is if anyone even buys them!) Anyway, the Strawberries and Cream kitties are among my favorites that I’ve made so far!
My newest kitty comes to you in blue with white dots and orange and yellow accents with a chick in her tummy and a baby in her pocket. She is wearing a little bell (as is her baby) and she has blue and black eyes! :) She is very soft and lovable too! :) The chick fabric I made with spoonflower.com and the orange fabrics I got on HawthorneThreads.com. The blue and white fleece I got a Joann Fabrics.
I think I’ve finally gotten the shape of my kitty pattern pretty much figured out. I like the shape of this kitty a LOT better! And, I decided to put a pocket on it which led me to think of putting a baby kitty in the pocket! haha! I love how it turned out!!! My sewing skills still suck, but I love these two new kitties! I sewed the baby kitty totally by hand, because he was so small.
Here’s my newest cat. This one has cupcakes in his stomach and a bow on his tail! I’m still not quite happy with the shape, but I like him anyway. It is hard to hate your babies! lol
I just made this green polka dotted cat. He looks a little like the Lochness Monster I think! LOL I’m actually trying to get a better shape for the cat design, but haven’t succeeded yet! Guess I’ll just have to make more cats! haha!
Here is the second set of swatches that I got from Spoonflower.com. I liked the way the little girl (Celia) one turned out, except that it had a couple of holes in the black where I forgot to color in the image, so I’ve updated that and it should be fixed now. :) I think the playing kitty one is interesting, but I also uploaded another one to see what it would look like bigger. With this one it really becomes more about the pattern, which can be good for some projects! I think the little chicken turned out pretty cute too!!! :) Yay!
I got my first fabric swatches from Spoonflower.com today! It is so exciting to see my drawings translated into fabric! The colors are a bit different (as can be expected with printing issues), but overall, I think they are so cool! I’m going to really have to work on creating some fantastic fabric designs!!! :) hehe. I can’t wait to use my very own fabric in my projects!!! Thank you Spoonflower! And, by the way, here’s a plug for myself…if you want to buy any of my fabrics, you can get them on Spoonflower in my shop. Here is the link: http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/kristinbell. I think I get 10% of the purchase price or something, but if you do buy any fabric, I’d love to know and would love to see anything you make with the fabric! Okay, plug over! :)
I just made this striped pink kitty who has a window to his belly where you can see the birds he has eaten. I’m quite a terrible sewer, but I think it turned out okay anyway! :)
A few weeks ago, my baby Zoey kitten had to go to the vet, because she was really sick. It turned out to be something like the flu. She had to get subcutaneous water packs and stuff, and they had to do x-rays to rule stuff out. Well, they gave me the disc with her x-rays on it, so I have her x-ray pictures to post! Pretty interesting to see! She’s doing fine now and you can see her in the last pic helping me read my book! :) Click the images for a larger viewing! :) Oh! I just noticed! In the upper left of the second image you can see her microchip!!! lol Cool!
I don’t know if I’ll ever make it to France, but at least I can have a bit of France on my bed! hehe. I’ve had this cute French-themed duvet for years and just love it! I also have the French text pillow cases to remind me of my failed attempts at learning the French language! haha The cute cat was a gift from my friend! :) I got the French sheets and duvet from GarnetHill.com and the yellow dottie sheets from PBTeen.com. If you click the pic, you can see a closer view of the French pattern! :)
I enjoy decorating my room now and then with new and/or old things. Here are some pics of the things I’ve been decorating. :) A lot of stuff I have gotten at PBTeen Teen Bedding, because I like the colorful stuff they have (even though I’m clearly not a teen!). I usually don’t pay full price for stuff, but wait for sales, and they do have some awesome sales sometimes! The other thing I enjoy about PBTeen is that most of the time their colors mix and match together, so even when you buy completely different things they go together! The rest of my room is a hot mess, but at least my bed is super-comfy! lol
