My mom and I really like to make smoothies. They are easy to make, healthy and delicious. All you need is a blender and a few ingredients and in seconds you’ll have a yummy treat! The things you can blend are endless, but we like to use some frozen fruit, usually frozen berries. My mom thaws the berries in the microwave, but I usually just stick them in the blender frozen. Add some milk or soymilk and yogurt, maybe a banana or an orange, then blend with some ice and enjoy! You can pretty much add whichever kind of fruits that you like or that are in season too. You can also combine ingredients to fit whatever dietary need or restriction that you have for the most part. If you don’t do dairy, then leave out the yogurt and milk and try adding orange juice, frozen or fresh berries and some bananas. You can make whatever your imagination dreams up! Sometimes I get decadent and add some ice cream to make it sweeter and more like a milkshake. It is usually sweet enough that you don’t need any sugar or ice cream anyway. Well, I’m sure you all know how to make smoothies, but in case you didn’t I thought I would share, because it is a nice, refreshing treat and is especially good in summer!

Dear Kristin,
I love doing smoothies! My fiance bought me a blender with an ice crusher setting on it, and I have been hooked..
I like to add a little raspberry or strawberry jam to punch up the flavor of a fruit smoothie.
One that I really like is to use After Eight hot chocolate powder, ice, milk, a little extra sugar and even ice cream, blend for a delicious chocolate mint shake
Hugs, Jennie

I add chopped dates when the smoothie is finished…just so there’s a “chew factor” at the bottom of the glass!!!
